Operation - Face Lift

Many women seek a Facelift because time is the most effective factor that fights beauty, and our skin is affected by aging factors, and wrinkles begin to creep on the face, which makes the face appear tired and exhausted, and then begins the tireless pursuit of creams and cosmetics that restore the skin and you may find Facelift is the only solution in treating facial sagging. Therefore, the role of a facelift comes in as a solution to restore freshness and youth to the face

What is a Facelift?

It is a process in which the excess skin on the face is removed and the flabby skin and fine and deep wrinkles are removed, especially the area under the eyelids, around the eyes and the middle of the face that causes the skin to sag and appear older as a result of the decrease in collagen and elastin, which maintain the elasticity of the skin.

What are the causes of sagging on the face and how can it be removed?

  • Loss of collagen tissue strength
  • The fat pads moves under the skin
  • Sagging facial muscles
  • Loss of elastic fibers from collagen during the aging process

All these reasons cause sagging and wrinkles on the face. Whereas, the majority of age-related deformities that appear on the face can be corrected with facelifts.

Who are the potential candidates for a face-lift?

Any adult who suffers from a sagging face and the spread of wrinkles in it, whether the cause is losing a large percentage of weight in a short time, due to aging, or even due to some genetic factors, can resort to a Facelift.

Patients who suffer from sensitive and thin skin that can’t perform a Facelift using surgical threads as well the laser face tightening techniques.

Pre Op preparations

The preparation for a facelift is mostly similar to any other surgical operation, in all cases the patient undergoes some medical tests to determine his health condition and the doctor gives him some instructions that must be adhered to in the period before the surgery to ensure its success. The patient must stop taking any drugs/medications containing cortisone, aspirin or warfarin in the week before the surgery, because these ingredients increase blood flow and may cause increased bruising and swelling, and some of them increase the patient’s chances of infection. The patient must also stop taking anti-inflammatory drugs and painkillers so as not to cause bleeding during surgery, and if the patient is to undergo general anesthesia, he must fast the day before the surgery for a period of at least eight hours.

How its done?

  • The surgeon makes an incision on both sides of the face behind the hairline so as not to leave visible scars.
  • The skin and muscles are tightened and sutured and the facial sagging is tightened, and the operation may include implanting some stents or injecting some fat into the face to help restore the youthfulness of the skin.
  • The surgical incision is closed, bandages are placed on the face, and the patient goes to recovery to begin waiting for results

Recovery period

During the recovery period from a face-lift, bandages are placed around the face to reduce swelling, and some tubes and hoses may be attached to remove any excess fluid and to prevent infection of the wound.
The recovery period after facelift surgery takes from two to a few weeks until the bandages can be removed, and even after removing them, it may take more time for the swelling to go away and get the final results.
